So, when I found this neat floral mesh at Apple Annie, I wanted to try something a little more ventilated.
Happened to have just ordered this Louise Cutting pattern for the vest view. But, the suggested jacket fabrics included organza, so I decided mesh might work.
And, I love it. Here's the back view. Has a lower flange, she calls it, along the hem.
I kept said flange edge raw, as I was very challenged for fabric. The rest of the edges I faced as instructed. Works nicely with one of my linen knit dresses (see former post)
Speaking of which, I made my "final" linen knit dress of the summer in olive green. I ordered this color because of a "vintage Chicos" silk shirt with which I wanted to have something to wear.
HI Sally! I recently found your blog and have been enjoying your posts very much. I am also a huge fan of all things linen in the summer. I only wish I could remember where I purchased the dark blue, light weight piece I used for Tessuti's Helga shirt! It turned out even better than I had hoped and barely wrinkles! Where do you get your linen knits? I would like to see how they are to work with.

Welcome, Kathie,
DeleteI really shopped around on the linen knit, as it can be quite pricey. The lime green was a 1 yd remnant and then a next season 1 yd reorder from Marcy Tilton. The latest olive green in from Michael Levine (aka low price fabrics) and wasn't much cheaper than Marcy's. Mood had a better price, but none of their colors appealed to me. The best price I found was at highendfabrics on EBay (the minty color they picture is not grey! But I bought two blues and a dark grey and they were great). All of these fabrics are kind of thin (really thin until laundered) and not as well behaved as some knits, as they can "grow", etc. but, nothing is cooler on a hot summer day. Hope this helps! Thanks for the great comment. Sally
That s "mink" not "minty"
DeleteSaw this in person and it's beautiful, great lightweight coverup! The vest looks interesting too
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane. You can try on the vest for size once I get it done!
